The role of the pharmacist in patient safety cannot be overstated. The pharmacists first charge is to be the gatekeeper and dispenser of all medications in the hospital. Secondly, it is the pharmacist who must establish and employ fail-safe processes that avoid unwanted outcomes. To this end, our onsite pharmacist verifies all medication orders for potential drug interactions, dosage, frequency and allergic reactions before any medications are given.
Many patients will receive a personal visit from our pharmacist to provide medication education.
Note that our hospital pharmacy services exist to supply medications to the operating rooms and inpatient departments only; we do not currently fill outpatient prescriptions.
