MRI at Rothman

At Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital, we offer closed MRI services using the newest Philips Ingenia 1.5T magnet for the highest-quality imaging, operated by certified MRI technologists. We strive to make MRI appointments as comfortable and convenient as possible. Patients can park for free in a lot near the MRI office with easy access to a private entrance. Our machine features a larger opening to make the experience more comfortable. Patients can also listen to their choice of music during the scan.

Our MRI Services

There are many reasons a physician might prescribe an MRI scan. At Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital, we diagnose and treat a range of musculoskeletal conditions, including injuries to the feet, hands, shoulders, elbows, spine and other joints in the body. Our goal for each patient is to provide an accurate diagnosis, paired with timely and effective treatment.

What To Expect During an MRI

An MRI is a non-invasive imaging procedure using a magnetic field to produce images of the patient’s organs, tissue and skeletal system, which helps us diagnose and determine the best way to treat any issues.

Prior to an MRI, patients should eat and take medications as normal, unless directed otherwise. The technologist will ask that you remove any metallic items that might affect the scan, such as jewelry, eyeglasses, dentures, etc. Patients should alert the technologist if there are any metal or electronic devices (like pacemakers, cochlear implants, or shrapnel) in their bodies.

During the scan, the patient enters the magnetic tube while the technologist monitors from an adjacent room. The procedure is painless and patients can easily communicate with the technologist through a microphone.
