Dr. Ciccotti, Director of the Sports Medicine Team at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, is internationally recognized for his work in sports medicine. He is the Everett J. and Marian Gordon Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at Rothman Orthopaedics and Thomas Jefferson University. He is currently Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine as well as the Director of Sports Medicine Fellowship and Research at Rothman Orthopaedics and the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He also currently serves as the Chairman of the Major League Baseball Medical Advisory Committee, the President of the Orthopaedic Learning Center Board of Directors and the President of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has been the Head Team Physician and Medical Director for the Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Team as well as Saint Joseph’s University sports for more than 25 years.
Dr. Ciccotti has served as President of the Major League Baseball Team Physicians Association and as Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Consultant for the Philadelphia 76ers Basketball Team, Philadelphia Eagles Football Team, and Philadelphia Flyers Hockey Team. In addition, he has been Program Chairman, Education Chairman and Executive Board Member of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine.
He has been recognized by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Herodicus Sports Medicine Research Society, the Major League Baseball Team Physicians Association, the Eastern Orthopaedic Society, and the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society for his contributions to orthopaedic research and education. He was recently honored with The George D. Rovere Award for Lifetime Contribution to Sports Medicine Education by the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, The Twenty Year Service Award from the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society, as well as The Dick Vermeil Lifetime Achievement Award from the Otho Davis Foundation for his Outstanding Contributions to Sports Medicine. He has been consistently recognized as one of the “Top Sports Medicine Surgeons” regionally and nationally. He has authored numerous articles, original research, and textbooks and has lectured extensively regionally, nationally and internationally on the full spectrum of orthopaedics and sports medicine.
